Standard user  - access??
HiI'm using win 7 64bit.I've set up 2 accounts - admin and a standard user account.Using Netplwiz I have made it so that the PC starts up in the standard user account. From the standard user account I can navigate to C:\Users\Admin\Desktop (or any other sub folder within Admin) without any password protection being asked for!Surely that cannot be right? Have I missed something ?Please advise

Hi, By default, the standard users cannot access the administrators profile without a password. But once a standard user access an administrators profile folder with the correct password, it will not be asked for the password for the second time. You may change the permission of your User Profile folders to check the issue. 1. Right click on your User Profile folder and click Properties. 2. Switch to Security tab and click Edit. 3. Remove the group and user names except for the following group or user names. a. SYSTEM b. Your current user name c. Administrators Note: You may receive a Access denied error, just click Cancel to continue due to the current administrator user also cannot access the hidden junction folders. 4. Click OK to check the issue. Whats the result?Arthur Li - MSFT

Thanks for that.So if you are a sys admin in a large company and access such a folder from a users PC, you then have to cover your tracks so the user cannont access the folder?Surely, it would be better if the access was removed again once the window was closed - i.e it would revert back instead of keeping the access level?

Hi, If so, you can join all the computers to a domain and assign the permission by Active Directory to resolve this issue.Arthur Li - MSFT
